Day 26: Journey to Surigao [Tinuy-an Falls]

Sorry, it took me a while to finish the part 2 of my Journey to Surigao trip. It's been a roller coaster ride at work, but thank goodness, I'm almost done with my report. Hence, accomplishing this blogpost. To read Part 1, click here:

Straight from Enchanted River, we headed to our next destination; Tinuy-an Falls. In my estimate, I think we traveled around 45 minutes before reaching the infamous falls seated in Bislig, Surigao.

Tinuy-an Falls is a waterfalls in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. It is the main tourist attraction in Bislig, a city known as the Booming city on the bay.
The falls is approximately 55 metres (180 ft) high, touted as the Niagara Falls of the Philippines, Tinuy-an is a white water curtain that flows in three levels. It is one of the best waterfalls in the entire Philippines because of its majestic and unique natural formation. Its colorful picture was once appeared in the International Travel Magazine. With all honesty, I was left speechless as I stood right in front of this God-made wonder. You could just imagine the height from which the water descends. I felt like I was in paradise...a dreamy yet realistic paradise.

Look at that curtain of water falling down to face of the earth. And yes, by looking at those people, you can tell how high the waterfalls is.

The falls has three layers. I am standing on the first tier in this photo. The view at my back took my breathe away.

Still on the first tier

On the third tier.

NOTE: The third tier is not for the faint of heart. Unlike the first and second levels, where you could actually get through them with a few steps, the third tier requires you to climb up a series of ladders because it's way up high. It's a bit risky too because the ladder is pretty narrow and tends to be slippery. The key is to tighten your grip and never look down if you're someone like me who's afraid of heights.

Here we are, rowing our way towards the magnificent curtain of water. The second tier has the highest falls.

Can you see three levels?

These photos do not even give justice to the real beauty of this waterfalls.

Beaming while enjoying the cold rush of water on our skin

Of course, the trip won't be complete without a picture of us together. The face of two people loving each other for 4 years, 7 months and counting. ♥♥♥

We originally planned to spend the night at Tinuy-an falls, but unfortunately, the pension house that they have wasn't comforting at all. It was  good for 10 people, but heck, it was so small we'd end up hugging each other for us to fit. And since nobody wanted to sleep on the tent (because it was cold) we decided to go look for some place to sleep. We left at around 5pm to look for a Pension House in Bislig. We stayed at Paper Country Inn that cost us Php200/head. Kind of costly, but at least, the room was air-conditioned and there were only five of us in the room so it wasn't too crowded.

We woke up early the next morning to buy fresh seafood at the public market to bring as "pasalubong". Yes, the seafood in Surigao are way cheaper compared to those sold in Davao City. We left at around 9am and it was Home Sweet Home by 2pm. :)

Entrance fee: Php20
Life Vest rental: Php30
Tent rental: Php200
Pension House: Php150/head (I would not recommend! Better sleep in the tent instead)
