About a month ago (remember this?), my boyfriend bragged about a Surigao trip that him and his colleagues are planning come the end of April. He mentioned about them going to the hottest tourist destinations in Mindanao to date, which are Enchanted River and Tinuy-an falls. Later, he bargained with me and convinced me to join them. Of course, I wouldn't miss the chance, so I immediately said yes.
April 29, 2011 - After I got off from work at 2pm, my boyfriend, along with the entire group, picked me up from the office and we were all geared up to our road trip to Surigao, which is roughly about 5 to 6 hours away from Davao City. We were 3 hours into the trip when we decided to stopover at some place to feed our hungry tummies.
After about half an hour, we all headed back to the van and drove off. It was 8pm when we reached Bislig, Surigao. And because it was already late, the group decided to look for a place to stay, where we could all rest and get ready for the next day's adventure.
April 30, 2011 - By 6:00 AM, everybody was up and beaming as our feet itched for this paradise we have all been anticipating. After having our breakfast, we packed our things and headed to our destination. A little over a 45-minute drive, we finally arrived at Enchanted River.
Enchanted River is nothing like any other river I've seen, or at least, nothing like the rivers from where I live. It has a blue green to dark blue body of water.

We ate at this place called Kainan sa Hillsview, somewhere in Trento, Agusan del Sur.
This beautiful rainbow greeted us just after we had our early dinner.

Quick Facts:
Enchanted River is located at Talisay, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. A sanctuary hidden in the innermost part of Barangay Cambatong. The reason why it is called "enchanted" is that, locals believed that the river is guarded by Spirits. No one is allowed to swim by 6pm. The river is graced with a plethora of underwater wonders. Many big fishes resides in the river, but apparently, no one has ever catch one. Not by hand, not by net, and not by any fishing gear.

I was hoping to take a full shot, but it was pretty hard because of the natural landscape, where there are no platforms that would allow you to get the right angle. But still, look how gorgeous the river is. And oh, the water is very cold by the way.
The depth of the water is roughly estimated to be 75ft. deep. So if you don't know how to swim, better be geared with a lifevest (rentals are available at the customer service).
My boyfriend is a swimmer, so he refused to wear a lifevest. (Ang yabang lang.. =p)
I suck at swimming, so I had to embrace this lifesaver.
Some other places that you can visit in Hinatuan
Entrance Fee: Php 10.00 (wow! very cheap)
Lifevest Rental: Php15.00/hr
Cottages: Php50.00
Food: Seafood (crabs, lobster, fish, squid, prawns...and even octopus!) available at the nearby vendors lined up across the entrance. You can ask them to cook for you. :)
After lunch, we headed to our next stop; Tinuy-an Falls.
to be continued.....
